The After School Program for Kent Center School students grades K-8! The program takes place on school days (except early dismissal days) beginning immediately after school until 5:30pm. Activities include indoor & outdoor play, arts & crafts, team-building, and homework time. Hosted by our After School Program Director, Rebecca ThompsonLOCATION: Kent Center School, 9 Judd Avenue in KentTIMES: Immediately After School until 5:30pCOST: $12.50 per session attended.  Account is invoiced monthly, $12.50 non-refundable deposit required for all transactions including single-day and same-day reservations.AGES: Kindergarten through 8th Grade; KCS students onlyon that day.  We cannot take sign-ups after that point.Also note that scholarships are available for those in need via the Kent Community Fund; contacted the P&R office for details.If you have any questions at all please e-mail us at parkandrec@townofkentct.org for more information.

Do you like to hike? Or do you want to get into hiking more? Join our Parks and Recreation Director, Matt, and Parks and Recreation Intern, Sam, for the Emery Park Summit Hiking Club! Matt and Sam will lead a group hike at Emery Park up to the summit and lookout of Leonard Mountain. This program is for all ages. All hiking abilities are welcome. Hikes will be canceled at Director’s discretion (inclement weather/thunderstorms, hazards on trial, major flooding, etc). Some quick FAQ's for the program:Q: Do I need to be a strong hiker to hike this trail?A: All abilities are welcome! The program is designed to give hikers a chance to meet and hike. The trail is 2 mile out and back style trail.Q: What if I'm not a strong hiker and I'm just starting my journey?A: Welcome aboard and we're happy to be your starting place! You can turn around at any point. You do not need to make it up the entire trail. If your goal is 0.25 miles out, we will support you to help get to that goal!Q: Do I need water?A: Absolutely! Bring water! Q: What else should I bring?A: Bug spray, hiking attire, hiking shoes, and a snack. We also recommend bringing your phone and/or a camera to take pictures at the summit. Q: What can I see at the lookout?A: A lot! You can see downtown Kent, Numeral Rock from the Kent School, and on a clear day, the Catskill Mountains (Blackhead, Black Dome, Thomas Cole, and Kaaterskill)!
